Senate to vote on Burwell's confirmation next week
The Senate is expected to vote on Sylvia Mathews Burwell’s confirmation next week. Last week, the Senate Finance Committee approved 21-3 Burwell’s nomination to be the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Burwell was confirmed as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) by the Senate in April 2013. She previously served as the president of the Walmart Foundation and president of the Global Development Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
