Senate leaders may have agreement today


Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are likely to announce an agreement today to reopen the government and raise the debt ceiling, according to news reports. The government has been shut down since October 1 and the nation faces its first-ever default on U.S. debt Thursday. Precise details have not yet emerged but the deal should reopen the government, funding it til Jan. 15 and raise the nation's debt ceiling into February.
