Starting today, rural hospitals experience dramatic funding reductions

Beginning Oct. 1, rural hospitals across the nation are experiencing dramatic Medicare reductions, putting Medicare beneficiary’s access to critical primary, emergency and hospital care in severe jeopardy. The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) calls on Congress to act immediately to restore the Medicare-dependent hospital (MDH) designation and low-volume hospital (LVH) adjustment to protect rural Americans access to critical health care services. This designation expired on Sept. 30. NRHA is organizing a sign-on letter to the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee reminding them of the expiration and asking the committees to act quickly. Please email dlee@nrharural.org or emahn@nrharural.org if your organization would like to sign the MDH/LVH letter. If you know any other organization that you believe would like to participate, please feel free to forward the letter or refer them back to us.
